a day in nizhniy.

\
This post will have many elements. Times that are laughable. Boring things[formydad]. Random facts about Russia. And other thoughts.

For my dad. Who wanted to know the gist of my daily routine.
I wake up every day at 4:30 am. Goodmorning, Starshine! The Earth says: HELLO! But, seriously.
The sun rises at that time. And then I roll back over. And sleep until 7:30.

Then I make a critical decision of whether or not I want to finish my homework.  Normally I decide YES.
So I roll out of bed at 7:45. And shower. And then do homework. And then EAT me some KASHA. yum.
Kasha can either be like oatmeal, millet, buckwheat, and etc. And drink my morning tea.

Then I leave for school. And by leave, I mean run. Because I am always just barely late for my Tramvai.
So then I wait for 10 minutes. and talk to the babushkii.
Then I board my moist and warm tram. for a 15 minute ride and pay 50 cents.

When i arrive at the school, every day I realize I have forgotten my card to let me into the school.
So i give a blank look like: hey, i'm american and i don't speak russian.
so they let me through. because im good at pretending i have no idea what is going on.

then i generally have praktika. I love this class. our teacher is so wonderful. her name is nastya.
and the other two classes change daily.

after school, i go home and do homework. or i sit out on the street where i live, and i listen to
musicians. there are these two men who play. one has a clarinet and the other has a little guitar
their duet is absolutely my favorite.

around 8 miss maggie gets home, and we eat dinner and talk. and talk. and talk. and it is simply
wonderful. sometimes we watch movies, other times we play word games [in russian] and other times
we go to other people's houses.

that is my day. oh and just so everyone knows: the sun never is fully gone. i am writing this at 1 in the morning,
and the sky still has light.

okay: new topic.

a birthday in Russia. It was simply wonderful.
it was great because we went and did karaoke.
if you know me, you know i live for karaoke.
like saturday nights at Guru's=a happy kylie.
and it was funny because i would sing in english.
and in russia, you just sit at your table to sing
karaoke.
but i found my favorite Russian song here!

i will post more later. i'm quite tired and exhausted.

with love,
kbilly

  2. Unfortunately, I speak no Russian. But my favorite part was the part that sounded like "I'm a Soulja" I'm glad you had fun singing Karaoke for your birthday. We should go when we get back to Provo ;)

    1. Aubrey! Honestly, it was in English at that point. So, im glad you recognized your native language! And, yes. we definitely should go. Because, I love it. A lot.

Also, i agree that he looks like an elf. A prison elf. Maybe we can throw him a sock.

  3. Also, I LOVE their gangsta faces. Well, the guy is the front is all "I'm cool and gangsta." While the guy in the back has the funniest expression ever. He also looks like a prison-elf. Because he looks like an elf, but the stripes make him look like a prisoner.. thus prison-elf.

Seriously, witty anecdotes are not required. Comment, crazies! I wanna hear about your lives, too!
