So you wanna know more about Russia? Here we go.
It was a huge holiday today. Victory Day. So, I didn’t have
school today. Cool, eh? Yeah. I thought so as well. But I walked everywhere in Nizhniy. Well, upper Nizhniy.
Pretty much I’m just going to post pictures, and then some
captions. Okay? Thanks.
| So, yeah. This is a sign that says Nizhniy Novgorod. Cool. |
| I'm in Nizhniy! SEE? |
This is my friend Natasha. I met her through Dasha. If you can't keep "asha" names straight...Russia is not for you. She has beautiful red hair. She is awesome. I'm glad I have been able to meet her.
Russia is really rubbing off on me. I can't seem to stop drinking this stuff. ...
Okay, I lied. And...just so you know: that isn't beer. It is definitely Kvas. Which is definitely sourdough bread in drink form. It is made out of bread and onions. Tasty, eh?
Out of my entire group...I was the only one who would step up to the plate and try this dang Kasha. But, it turned out to not be bad at all. I really like buckwheat. So, it was enjoyable for me to eat.
My Russian boyfriends. Just Kidding. It is tradition to take picture of you eating Soldier Kasha with soldiers. So, that I did. (Please note that they are both smiling. **big win.)
Nizhniy has it's own Candy Land Church.
We took this thing across the Volga River. Cool, hey? Look closely and you can see Dasha.
Okay this picture actually has a lot of meaning. 1. the flowers aren't normally there. But it is a tradition to buy flowers on May 9th and give them to the WWII veterans, or put them on the monuments. This monument is called the Eternal Flame. Look closely and you can see it. There were MANY flowers. Also, when people get married they place flowers here.
the flowers I bought to give to the WWII veterans. They not only were victorious for them, but without them... The war would have been a lot longer. And more of our men would have been killed. It was so cool to meet the veterans. They would tell us a lot of things. But in the end wish upon us to always stay beautiful for forever because we showed our gratitude.
Their whole parade consisted of tanks and military persons. It was cool. And there were so many people!
It is traditional for couples recently married to go to this certain bridge and put locks on the bridge with their names on it.
Me and the cool Kremlin wall.
That's all folks. A lot of pictures!
